The Singapore Accountancy Academy
(SAA) was established in 1985, with a vision to service and
foster the needs of the accountancy industry. It is the training
arm of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants
of Singapore (ICPAS). ICPAS is Singapore’s
largest and one of the most established professional bodies
in Singapore, administering over 19,000 members.
The SAA has over 20 years track
record and has consistently produced a list of prize winners
for the ACCA and CAT programmes in the Singapore and International
category. The Academy has trained thousands of individuals
to upgrade their education and career needs through various
academic and continuing professional education programs.
There are currently more than
5,000 part-time and full time students studying at the SAA,
with students from Singapore, China, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia,
Philippines, and other Asia Pacific region.

Quality Class for PEO
In November 2005, we are proud to be a recipient of Singapore
Quality Class (SQC) for Private Education Organisations (PEO)
award.
The SQC-PEO award is a scheme
administered by SPRING Singapore to recognize PEO that have
attained a commendable level of performance in their journey
to business excellence and to assist them to reach world-class
standards of business excellence based on the Singapore Quality
Award (SQA) framework and requirements in the private education
sector.
PEOs that qualify for the scheme
also enjoy the following privileges:
- ‘Green lane’ processing of Student’s
Pass applications, including:

Reduced processing time from 4 weeks
to 2 weeks.

Student’s Pass valid for full
duration of student’s study

Waiver of security deposit (all levels)
-
For PRC students (all levels): waiver
of interview at Singapore’s Beijing Embassy and
direct submission of applications to Immigration &
Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

Granting of 1-month Social Visit Pass,
upon completion of studies, for foreign students to wind
down their activities in Singapore and make arrangements
to leave.
CaseTrust
The SAA is one of the first
few organizations to be awarded the CaseTrust for Education
accreditation by the Consumer Association of Singapore. The
recognition affirms our good business practice and commitment
to our customers. The CaseTrust for Education scheme has been
customized specifically by CASE for the education industry
in Singapore. The scheme will enhance the confidence of international
students and their parents in the quality of education in
Singapore.
The regulatory framework focuses
on building trustworthiness, professionalism, as well as business
and academic excellence. It has two tiers, first, an essential
or mandatory tier, which requires Private Schools to ensure
high quality student welfare practices and standards and gives
Private Schools the right to enroll international students.
Second, a voluntary tier, tied to privileges, is focused on
enhancing business and academic excellence. CaseTrust for
Education is part of the essential tier under the regulatory
framework.
A PEO that achieves CaseTrust
for Education is certified as an organization that possesses
the foundation for good quality student welfare/protection
practices and standards. The PEO will have the following mechanisms
in place:
- Clear Fee Policies
- Well-Defined Student Redress Practices and Systems
- Disclosure of the PEOs Commitment of Quality
- Well-Trained Personnel
Platinum – ACCA Approved Learning Partner
The SAA has been awarded “Platinum”
approval by the ACCA, United Kingdom.
Platinum approval is the highest
and most prestigious level of the programme. To be considered
for Platinum approval, tuition providers must already have
achieved Gold approval and in addition to the challenging
performance targets that have been demonstrated to attain
Gold approval, the tuition provider must also meet ACCA’s
Platinum performance targets and Platinum pass-rate targets
over two consecutive sets of results.

SAA administers the ICPAS
Professional Examination (PE) for individuals with overseas
qualifications who are seeking membership with ICPAS and the
Pre-Admission
Course for provisional members. We ensure that all ICPAS
members are kept up to date on technical issues via our Continuing
Professional Education (CPE) seminars. SAA has a history
of providing customized In-house Training programs for government
bodies and multinational organizations.
We have been offering academic
programmes in collaboration with government education institutes
and acclaimed overseas universities. SAA is one of the first
to offer the ACCA/ICPAS Joint Examination
Scheme and Certified Accounting Technician
programmes in Singapore. We are the only institution to offer
the Association of Taxation Technician
programmes to give individuals a strong foothold in Taxation
as a professional career. SAA offers tuition for the University
of London Degree programmes; BSc Accounting & Finance,
BSc Banking & Finance and BSc Business. SAA also offers
the University of Nottingham MSc International
Business Management programme.

Campus
SAA, together with the secretariat division
of ICPAS, is housed in CPA House, at Aljunied Road, occupying
29,900 square feet. SAA has a total of 7 classrooms suitably
sized for 50-180 persons and an auditorium that can accommodate
up to 170 persons. We are equipped with 2 computer laboratories,
a comprehensive library, a student recreational center and lecturer’s
consultation rooms.

Campus
The SAA City Campus is prestigiously located at 6 Raffles
Quay, at the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District.
The Academy’s strategic location is easily accessible
from Raffles Place MRT station through a sheltered underground
walkway. Sited on the 23rd floor with over 10,000 square feet
of floor space, it encompasses 4 well-equipped training rooms
and a CPA lounge.

lecturers are top academics and professionals in both
industry and public practices, thus forming a dedicated team
whose goal is the excellence of professional accountancy training.
Currently we have a panel of 30 lecturers for our academic
courses and 30 trainers for our professional seminars.
