BSc (Hons) Applied Accounting
ACCA/Oxford Brookes University Degree Partnership
(Mentorship Programme)

Programme Outline

  1. Seminars
    SAA offers the seminars for students embarking on the Research and Analysis Project. It concentrates on focussing the student precisely on the requirements of the project and provides detailed guidance on choosing a topic, research and analysis techniques and the critical skills of report-writing and giving presentations.
  2. ACCA/Oxford Brookes University Approved Tutorial Text
    Students will get the ACCA/Oxford Brookes University Approved Tutorials Text ‘Success in Your Research and Analysis Project’, which is packed with advice, self-assessment exercises, checklists and examples.
  3. Complete a Research and Analysis Project (RAP)
    The Research and Analysis Report consists of two separate documents: a 6,500 word Research Project (RP) and a 2,000 word Skills and Learning Statement (SLS).

    This RAP allows students to demonstrate their ability to do research, analyse and use key skills by undertaking a business related topic. RAP tests skills in independent research, practical analysis, IT and communications, written and oral. There is no ‘syllabus’to study to, only a Project Topic to explore, define and complete.

    You have three attempts to pass the RAP. Unfortunately if you fail the RAP on three separate occasions you will no longer be eligible to complete the BSc degree. Please note that you can either submit the same project topic three times or three different RAPs.

  4. Delivery of Presentation
    Towards the completion of your project, you are also required to prepare and deliver a presentation on your project to your project mentor and a group of your peers.
  5. Assignment of Mentor
    After enrolment of the programme, a mentor will be allocated to the student. The role of the mentor will be to:
    • Track the Framework and progress of the student;
    • Provide feedback and advice to student;
    • Certify that the report and presentation has been completed in accordance to the guidelines of Oxford Brookes University; and
    • Hold three sessions of half-hour meetings with the student to monitor his/her progression on the Project
    • Observe a presentation by the student on his/her Project
