Adrian Hoa    LLB (HONS)

Educational Qualification

Mr Hoa graduated with Honours in Law from the prestigious University of London and is also a member of the Middle Temple Inn Bar, United Kingdom.

Professional Experience

He was formally an in-house corporate legal counsel with various prominent real estate companies and is currently a Senior Group Director/Legal Manager/Business Consultant of various companies in Singapore.

Lecturing Experience

Mr Hoa had been invited to lecture on Corporate and Business Laws including Law of Contract and Company Law, Real Estate/Property Laws and many other law modules at various established institutions and companies in Singapore, which included but not limited to Singapore Institute of Commerce/Stansfield Group of Companies and had even given talks/seminars on Laws to the public and professional sectors in hotels and companies.

In addition, Mr Hoa was even invited to write articles on laws and real estate in various magazines like "The Smart Investor" Magazine, "The Singapore Law Gazette", "Singapore Property Guide" and was even invited to contribute articles of law and real estate in the main newspapers, "The Straits Times" and had further been invited to give talks in Mandarin via Radio 95.8FM on corporate matters in Singapore.

Mr Hoa is currently lecturing for the Academy for ACCA Paper F4 and ATTS Paper 3 module (Corporate and Business Law), and is also a Law Lecturer in Singapore Manufacturers Association (SMA) for Murdoch University Bachelors Degree Singapore Corporate and Business Law Module and MDIS Group of Companies for Legal Framework I Law Module in Australian Laws for their various academic degree qualifications programmes including Edith Cowan University Australia (ECUni).

Andy Tan    IMIS

Educational Qualification

Andy holds a professional qualification in MIS from the Institute for the Management of Information Systems (IMIS) U.K. and he is former IMIS Gold Medalist in the Systems Analysis and Design paper, and Silver Medalist of IMIS Graduate Diploma worldwide.

Professional Experience

Andy started his career as a lecturer in one of the ACCA Platinum tuition providers in Malaysia where he conducted seminars and workshops on exam study skills which have benefited a lot of students.

Andy then ventured into business in order to get exposure to real business world. After which, he returned to the education industry where he started his international lecturing in Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei, Singapore and Africa with one of the international ACCA Platinum tuition Providers.

He is now providing trainings to junior lecturers in several ACCA colleges in Malaysia and Africa on ACCA Papers F1 and P3. Besides, he had also conducted CPD training to ACCA affiliates and members in Africa.

Lecturing Experience

Andy has vast international lecturing experience in teaching various professional courses including the ACCA, CIMA, ABE, ICSA and University of London (UOL) external programme. His international lecturing experience has also given insights to his students the global perspectives of the papers.

Currently Andy is a freelance lecturer of ACCA specialising in Strategic Management and Information Systems related papers of the ACCA. Having lectured for 10 years, Andy has taught more than 10,000 students worldwide has produced thousands of ACCA graduates worldwide.

Andy now teaches Papers F1 and P3 in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong (SAR), Macao (University of Macao) and China (Jiao Tong University, Shanghai).

With his commitment, he has produced constant high passing rates and in some occasions 100% passes in papers that he lectures. as well as Top Country Award students in CAT and ACCA Papers. In the past two years I produced in total 27 prizewinners worldwide. These include 2 top country prizes for Paper 3.5 (the precedence of P3) two years in a row.

In the December 2007 exam alone, Andy produced in total 7 prizewinners which include 3 prizewinners for CAT Paper T5 (1st, 2nd and 3rd prize in Singapore), 3 prizewinners for ACCA Paper F1 (1st, 2nd and 3rd prize in Singapore) and a Gold Medalist in Singapore who studied 3 papers under Andy including Paper P3 since 2006.

With such a great result, Andy was awarded the Lecturer of the year in 2003 by one of the international ACCA Platinum tuition providers.

In March 2008, Andy was also conferred the Best ACCA Pass Rate Lecturer Award 2007 by Singapore Accountancy Academy (SAA), the training arm of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS)

As a result of Andy’s achievement, he had been invited by the ACCA to conduct seminars in various locations. These include the post examination review seminar in Hong Kong City University, Exam study workshop in Malaysia and Train the trainer workshop in Beijing.

Throughout the years Andy has developed a comprehensive set of study pack comprises his self-written exam focused Study notes and practice kits with his self produced answers for the past year questions. Andy’s lectures has also been turned into online class and sold online in Hong Kong (SAR) for students who cannot attend his class.

Ben Lee    ACCA, MBA (International Business)

Educational Qualification

Ben Lee is a member of the ACCA, UK; he also has an MBA in International Business (UniSA).

Professional Experience

Mr Lee has more than ten years of extensive industrial experience in the area of accounting and finance. He was the Financial Controller of a Public Listed Trading Company with regional distribution network before heading the Department of Accounting for another Public Listed Company with an international business establishments. Ben was also the Training and Development Manager of an International Professional Accountancy Body.

Lecturing Experience

Mr Lee is an associate lecturer with University of Wales, University of Bradford and University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology. He is also actively involved in corporate training, some of the companies that he had provided training are Siemens, Maxtor, Caltex and NTUC. He specializes in the area of financial management, financial and management accounting.

Chee Hay Kheong    FCPA Australia, FCPA Singapore

Educational Qualification

Mr Chee is an Accountancy graduate (Honours) from the National University of Singapore. He held a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) qualification in 1993 to 1996 while he was specializing in computer auditing.

Professional Experience

Mr Chee has more than 17 years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, information technology, with international accounting firms both in Singapore and United Kingdom. He was a venture capitalist and also managed the operations of the Singapore subsidiary of a European listed company. He was a council member of the Ang Mo Kio-Cheng San Community Development Council in 2000 and 2001. Currently, he serves as a committee member of three committees in the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS): the IT Committee, the ICPAS-CPA Australia Joint Development Committee and the Examination Committee. He also serves as a committee member in the Accounting & Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA).

Lecturing Experience

Mr Chee has several years of lecturing experience in the ACCA programme and Advanced Diploma Programme (for an external University Degree examination).

Chow Kim Tai    CA(M), FCCA, MBA (Finance)

Educational Qualification

Mr. Chow is a Chartered Accountant of Malaysia and a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK (ACCA). He also holds a MBA (Finance) from Charles Stuart University Australia. He was formerly a World Gold Medal for LCCI examinations and completed his ACCA examinations in the minimum period of 2 years with straight passes. Mr. Chow adapts his excellent academic background and learning experience in teaching his students.

Professional Experience

Mr. Chow started his career as Audit and Tax Assistant in a Public Accounting firm. He was once the General Manager and Academic Head of the Business School division of a Private University in Malaysia. Currently he is a freelance lecturer and consultant in his own practice. He has conducted many public seminars and in-house trainings for various listed companies and MNCs. such as Petronas, Berjaya Group, National Panasonic, Big 4 audit firms, Vietnam Auditing Company, Brunei Shell, etc.

Lecturing Experience

Mr. Chow has more than 13 years of experience in teaching Financial Management and Management Accounting. In ACCA, he specializes in lecturing paper F2, F5, F9, P4 and P5. He lectures extensively all over Asia in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong (SAR), China, Vietnam, Brunei and Indonesia. Over these years, he has trained more than 13000 students worldwide. Students rated his teaching skills as excellent, very systematic and easy to understand. Many students followed him through from paper F2 to P5. Besides ACCA, he also lectures on MBA and degree courses.

His students’ in Singapore and Malaysia has won Malaysian, Singapore and world price-winners. Mr. Chow also acts as a mentor for OBU projects, to date he has successfully guided ALL his projects’ students in achieving the B.Sc in Applied Accountancy.

David Wong

Educational Qualification

David is a Certified Public Accountant and is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He holds membership in The Institute of Internal Auditors, Fraud Examiner including The Singapore Institute of Director.

Professional Experience

David is presently an Assistant Vice President, Group Internal Audit in a major public listed company and has experience of more than 18 years in Audit, Taxation and Accountancy.

Lecturing Experience

David specializes in teaching taxation subjects and has more than 8 years lecturing experience in taxation for ACCA, CAT and AAT.David has a sustainable track record of achieving high pass rate for his students and had students who won book prize.

Edgar Wong    ACCA BA (HONS), B.SC. (HONS) In Applied Acounting

Educational Qualification

Prior to completing his ACCA Professional Programme, Mr Wong graduated with Honours in Economics (2nd Upper) from the National University of Singapore. On a part time basis, he completed the Diploma of Banking and Finance and passed all ACCA subjects on his first attempt. Mr Wong latest achievement is B.Sc. (1st Class Honours) in Applied Accounting under ACCA/Oxford Brookes University Degree Partnership.

Professional Experience

Mr Wong held various positions in banking, finance and property sectors; and managed projects over several legal jurisdictions for more than 18 years. He had also been providing consultancy services to small and medium enterprises. He now manages an audit team for a firm with responsibilities for audit and consultancy assignments. His other endeavour is to manage Asisf1rst Capital, a boutique investment company. In May 2007, Mr Wong is elected by fellow members to the ACCA Local Executive Committee during ACCA Singapore Branch 64th Annual General Meeting.

Lecturing Experience

Mr Wong’s passion for lecturing started at NYJC as a relief teacher for Economics during his university third year's holidays. He continued with coaching students in economics at diploma level for a few years after his graduation. Over the last few years with Singapore Accountancy Academy (the training arm of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore, ICPAS), his focus is in the areas of accounting, costing, tax and finance under ACCA, CAT and ATTS programmes. Goh Sher Wee    FCCA, FCPA Singapore

Educational Qualification

Mr Goh is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants UK and is in public practice. He is also a Fellow Certified Public Accountant of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore. Mr Goh graduated from the ACCA examinations achieving top place for the “Advanced Accounting Practice” (a double paper) and “Tax and Tax Management”.

Professional Experience

Mr Goh is a sole practitioner in his own accounting firm for the past 18 years. He has more than 26 years of experience in auditing, fraud investigation, taxation, corporate secretarial services and financial planning.

Lecturing Experience

Mr Goh is one of the pioneer lecturers with the training division of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS). He was the Chairman of the Student's Section Committee during his studentship and also served as a committee member of the ACCA (Singapore Branch). He has taught numerous subjects for institutions such as the Singapore Institute of Management, Singapore Association of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators; and the ICPAS.

Programmes taught include ACCA, CAT, Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance, Diploma in Management Studies (SIM), Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (SIM), Certificate and Diploma in Banking (Institute of Banking and Finance), Criminal Law (Singapore Police Force), British degree units and Australian degree units.

He was an adjunct senior fellow with the National University of Singapore for more than 10 years. He has also been the examiner and moderator for various degree programmes. He has been an invited lecturer to the ACCA (Malaysia Division) for ACCA revision courses and has been lecturing on the ACCA programme since 1985. Many of his past students are currently public accountants as well as lecturers in the ACCA, degree and professional programmes.

Ho Meng Hee    Advocate & Solicitor of Singapore LLM (Cambridge & London), LLB Hons (Liverpool), Barrister-at-Law of Middle Temple

Educational Qualification

Mr Ho studied law at 3 British universities and the Inns of Court School of Law, London. He graduated with 2 Master’s degrees in Law, from Cambridge and London Universities respectively. He is also a Barrister-at-Law of the Middle Temple, London, and an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.

Professional Experience

Upon graduation, he joined the Singapore Government's Legal Service. He was a Deputy Public Prosecutor & State Counsel at the Attorney-General’s Chambers Singapore, an Assistant Director of Legal Aid and an Assistant Registrar of Land Titles with Ministry of Law Singapore. He had also practised as a lawyer in private practice and had appeared in all the main law courts of Singapore in both civil and criminal cases. Presently, he is the  Legal Counsel at Health Sciences Authority, a statutory board of the Ministry of Health.

Lecturing Experience

He has taught at many institutions of higher learning, including the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Institute of Management, Singapore Polytechnic, etc and had also conducted seminars on legal topics for the public. In his 2nd batch of ACCA students at SAA, he produced the top student in Singapore (91 marks) in the December 2007 exams for Corporate & Business Law. He believes that students should learn the laws not merely to pass examinations (although that is important of course!)  but also for the sake of their own professional and personal lives.

Educational Qualification

James graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS). He is also a Fellow (Academic) of the Association of International Accountants (AIA) in UK, a Fellow of the American Academy of Financial Management (AAFM) in USA and an Associate Management Accountant (AMA) with The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA) in Australia. Additionally, James holds Certified Risk Analyst (CRA) status and Certified Compliance Officer (CCO) status. At the age of 30, James has already completed two master degrees. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Strathclyde, UK and earns his second MBA in Investment and Finance from the University of Hull, UK. He has recently completed his third Master degree in Business Research from the University of Western Australia and currently pursuing the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) from the University of Western Australia. His doctoral research areas cover corporate governance, accounting and finance.

Professional Experience

James has been the group management accountant with a multinational corporation for several years before becoming a full-time lecturer. He has been lecturing extensively for more than 13 years. He specialises in financial accounting/reporting, cost and management accounting, and financial management.

Lecturing Experience

James is a very committed, exam-oriented and highly approachable lecturer. He has demonstrated his ability to build up the rapport with the students within a short time frame. His broad based and in-depth teaching style has helped many students to pass their exams in one attempt. He has also produced many prize winners for all the papers he has taught In recognition of his achievement, he has been conferred the Best ACCA Passing Rate Award in 2005 and the Most ACCA Prizewinners Award in 2005, 2006 and again in 2007 by ICPAS.

James is the author of the Paper F3 Financial Accounting revision kit.

Joe Fang    ACCA Aff.

Educational Qualification

Joe is an affiliate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and he also holds an Advanced Diploma and Diploma in Commerce.

Professional Experience

Joe joined a multinational corporation as an in-house industrial trainer in 1994 providing safety and protocol training seminars for different levels of employees ranging from managers, engineers, technicians as well as production operators. Such trainings has provided Joe an invaluable experience to understand and react fast to the vast and differing needs of trainees as well as instil an interest in him to embark on a career in education later.

In 1999, he set up of an educational institution in Malaysia which has now grown to be the largest ACCA College in the southern region of Malaysia.

Lecturing Experience

Joe specialized in lecturing financial and corporate reporting papers. His self developed consolidation technique has set a record high of merely 30 minutes or less for his students to complete examination consolidation question.

He also lectures F7(formally 2.5) and P2(formally 3.6) extensively for over 6 years covering countries such as Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Singapore. Well versed in IFRS, IAS and FRS as well as Exposure Drafts, he discovered the “extract and comment technique” which suits Asian students, helping them to overcome their language proficiency problem when interpreting and answering theoretical case study questions on Accounting Standards. He drills students using recent past year questions and up to standard exercises showing them in depth insights with very strong emphasis on writing and analytical skills.

Joe has consistently produced high passing rates. In the June 2004 exam, his ACCA P3.6 student won the Subject Achiever Award (1st Placing) in Malaysia.

Ian Lim    FCCA, CFP

Educational Qualification

Ian is a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK), and a Certified Financial Planner.

Professional Experience

Ian began his career in auditing with a medium size professional firm where he gained valuable professional and commercial experience even before completing the ACCA.

Ian's flair for teaching sparked in 1999 when he joined one of the college conferred ACCA Premier Status in Malaysia as a lecturer to teach accounting, financial management and management accounting subjects. His commitment and dedication towards teaching enabled him to gain popularity amongst students who undeniably rate him as one of their favourites! Ian was appointed as the Head of Professional Studies to manage the operations of the ACCA programme. This strengthened his profile further as he had to cope with several challenges to ensure the co-ordination and growth of the programme successfully.

Lecturing Experience

Ian specialises in financial management and management accounting subjects for both CAT & ACCA programmes. He is currently teaching Papers F5, F9, P5 for ACCA and T7, T10 for CAT. He understands students’ needs well and his exposure to the education industry has led to him to embark upon teaching opportunities in countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, Brunei and Africa. Besides, Ian also conducted ACCA exam techniques workshop and CPD workshop in Brunei.

Ian's simple techniques of teaching and organized way in explanation have enabled students to grasp the most difficult aspects of financial management and management accounting theory without any cumbersome. His high level of tolerance, patience, diligence and hard work has enabled him to sustain in the teaching industry for the past 10 years and turnover every threat into an opportunity.

In the ACCA December 2007 examination, Ian has produced 1st Placing Subject Achiever Award for F9 and P5 in Singapore.

John Seow    B Acc FCPA

Educational Qualification

Mr Seow graduated from University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Accountancy and became a FCPA Singapore in 2004.

Professional Experience

Mr Seow with more than thirty years of experience as auditor, financial controller, group accountant in large MNC, Manager, Credit and Marketing Department of a large local bank. He was the Honorary Treasurer of ICPAS, Singapore Red Cross Society, and Singapore Swimming Club. Served as Council member of ICPAS for more than 11 years. Served in various committees such as Practice Monitoring, Financial Statement Review, Membership and etc.

Lecturing Experience

Discovered his ability to teach in 1972 when he first taught POA (at A-level). He taught for seven continuous years before been appointed as lecturer in the Polytechnic. His focus is on Financial Accounting Cost and Management Accounting.

Lee Yuet Lai    BAcc, CPA Singapore

Educational Qualification

Yuet Lai graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Accountancy from the National University of Singapore (NUS). She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with the Institute of Certified Public Accountant of Singapore.

Professional Experience

Yuet Lai began her career as an external auditor with one of the Big 4 international accounting firm upon graduating from NUS. She then moved on to join the corporate tax division of the same firm. She has more than 10 years of tax experience and she had served many notable clients including clients from multi-national corporations (MNC), financial institutions, securities companies, fund management companies, venture capital companies, trading and manufacturing companies etc. She was also an in-house tax advisor to a MNC before she embarked on her teaching career.

Her professional experience entailed providing tax advice on merger and acquisition, restructuring, due diligence, transfer pricing, withholding tax, etc. She also rendered tax compliance services to clients including liaising with the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore on tax queries and rulings, and liaising with various government agencies like the MAS and MOF on tax submission/tax incentives.

Lecturing Experience

Throughout her professional career, Yuet Lai had been actively involved in conducting training and seminars for both internal and external clients. She was involved in conducting in-house tax training for the tax and audit professionals whilst she was with the international accounting firm. She participated as a speaker in external seminars for clients, including budget and banking tax seminars. She also conducted in-house tax training for the business units while she was an in-house tax advisor.

Yuet Lai is currently an adjunct lecturer with a polytechnic teaching corporate taxation to the final year students in the School of Business and Accountancy. She also teaches taxation to the non-accountancy students in the School of Inter-disciplinary Studies.

With her vast experience as a tax practitioner and her experience in the industry, Yuet Lai is able to bring depth to her teaching by sharing her invaluable practical experiences with her students. She has demonstrated her ability to teach effectively as evident by the commendation from one of her ex-student as being "one of the better teachers whom I had come across in my 3 years with the polytechnic."

Manek    BCom, MBus (Prof Acc)

Educational Qualification

Mr Manek has a well-rounded academic background. He has a Bachelor of Commerce (major in Accounting), a Master of Business (major in Professional Accounting). In addition he has completed 7 professional qualifications in Accounting, Cost & Management Accounting, Financial Management, Finance & Administration, Internal Auditing, Marketing and Company Law.

Professional Experience

Mr Manek has seven years of experience in public accounting practice. He has trained staff of several well-known companies in Singapore and the region.

Lecturing Experience

Mr Manek has been lecturing in Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Management Accounting, Business Finance & related subjects at professional diploma, undergraduate & postgraduate courses for the past ten years. He has lectured at the academy since 1996.

Mohd Nageb    ICSA, MBA (Strathclyde)

Educational Qualification

Nageb studied in the UK and is a graduate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (this is equivalent to a honours degree).  Nageb also holds a Masters in Business Administration from University of Strathclyde, UK.  His thesis was on Strategic Business Plan of a medium size private institution.

Professional Experience

Nageb started his career in the banking industry assisting the sub-manager in operational and strategic issues.  Later he moved into education.  After a brief period of lecturing Nageb was promoted to Head of Business Studies managing about 30 faculty members and 2000 students.  As Head he introduced many new products that were required by the industry.  He was heavily involved in the running of the department and co-ordinated extensively with top management in implementing strategic directions.

Later Nageb was promoted as Director.  In this strategic position Nageb crafted the direction for the organisation to move forward.  His experience enabled him to introduced new products and improved existing ones to serve the needs of every changing industry.  He worked closely with top management of his business partners to position his organisation as a clear differentiator from competitors.

Nageb's experience extends to international business where he was instrumental in taking his organisation to China, India, Indonesia, Cambodia and Malaysia.  He worked closely with his overseas principals in  appointing agents, granting licensing and engaging in joint ventures.
In summary Nageb has extensive business experience which enables him to develop budding leaders to face the uncertainties of a frantically changing world economy.

Lecturing Experience

Nageb started lecturing since 1976.  In total Nageb has 30 years of lecturing experience.  He now specialises in lecturing ACCA courses, which he has been lecturing for the past 27 years, in F1, Accountant in Business and P3, Business Analysis.

He also lectures at the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), University of London, B.Sc progrmme since 1991.  Apart from these Nageb lectures at the Masters level.  The university has appointed him to be the examiner and marker.  Nageb lectures Management related disciplines such as Organisational Behaviour and International Business.

Top Positions Achieved by Students

Over the years Nageb has consistently produced  ACCA students who won top prizes since 1977.  This top accolades are both World and Singapore rankings.  Some of his achievements are: 96 & 90 marks for Managing People and Systems; Top student in 1.3 Managing People; Gold & Silver Medallist for the ACCA examinations.

In addition Nageb also develops students who achieve first-class-honours consistently for the University of London examinations.

Mr Woo is a Fellow of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a member of the Institute of Data Processing and Management (MIDPM)-UK. He also holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Strathclyde, Glasglow, Scotland.

Mr Woo worked as an auditor in England and on his return continue to be in the profession. He later worked as a Chief Financial Controller and has extensive experience in the engineering, oil and gas, and construction sector. He has worked in the capacity as an Accountant and senior manager in the commercial sector for many years.

Lecturing Experience

Prior to joining the Academy in 1995, Mr Woo taught ACCA, CIMA, ICSA, UOL and other courses at other educational institutions both in Singapore and Malaysia and has been teaching for over 20 years. He specializes in teaching auditing, corporate governance, management and information technology subjects. He also conducts training and seminars in various countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and China.

Robin Chia    CPA Singapore, FCCA(UK), FPNA (AUST), CA (MSIA), ACFE (US), MBA (UK)

Educational Qualification

Mr Chia is a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and a Practicing Member with The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore. He also holds a Master Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Leicester. He is currently a PHD Candidate with Nanjing University of Information, Science and Technology.

Professional Experience

Mr Chia has several years of working experience with Accounting, Corporate Finance and Fraud, Tax, Insolvency and Audit in Singapore. He is currently a Managing Partner with a Public Accounting Firm in Singapore and as a Consultant in Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. He is also a Director of an IT and Business Consultancy Company specialising in accounting system solutions and is the Head of Audit and a Financial Consultant for a government instituition.

Lecturing Experience

Mr Chia has been a guest lecturer for government institutions and professional bodies as well as a lecturer for the Academy lecturing in the ACCA, CAT and the CPE programmes.

Stephen Chew    FCCA, ChFC, CLU, AIF

Educational Qualification

Mr Chew completed his ACCA at the age of 21 in 1987. Since then, he has obtained further professional qualifications as a Chartered Financial Consultant and Chartered Life Underwriter.

Professional Experience

Mr Chew is currently the managing director of a group of companies providing One Stop Insurance Based Integrated Financial Services ranging from accounting, taxation, corporate secretariat services, corporate insurance, family insurance, estate planning, banking and legal services.

Mr Chew has written four books in which two are mainly marketed to students preparing for the professional accountancy examinations. The other two books “Taxation Relevant to Insurance Practitioners” and “Estate Planning Relevant to Financial Advisors” are well received by the insurance industry. He is presently writing a series of books in relation to Financial Advisors.

Lecturing Experience

Mr Chew started lecturing since 1987 specializing in Advanced Accounting, Management Accounting and Singapore Taxation. Since 1991, he focused his attention on Singapore Taxation and has taught more than 10,000 students on tax related topics. He speaks regularly in the region on numerous topics ranging from Taxation, Motivation, Sales Training, Financial Planning and Estate Planning.

Tan Cher Keow    BSc, DipEd

Educational Qualification

Mr Tan has a degree and a postgraduate diploma from the National University of Singapore.

Professional Experience

Mr Tan was a programmer with MINDEF and was also a teacher with the Ministry of Education (MOE) before switching to his current position as a Technical Manager for a Research and Development company that specializes in automation. Mr Tan is in charge of managing their Information Systems.

Lecturing Experience

Mr Tan has been lecturing the ACCA and CAT programmes at the Academy since 1989. He was previously lecturing a Master's programme in computerized accounting information systems and quantitative methods at a private school. He specializes in quantitative methods and information technology.

Tan Mee Ling    FCCA

Educational Qualification

Ms Tan is a Fellow with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.


Professional Experience

Ms Tan was a tax practitioner in an international public accounting firm for 7 years before she became a full time lecturer. Since then, she has lectured extensively on Singapore Taxation for several leading educational institutions. The professional courses that she has been involved in include the ACCA, CAT, CIMA and AAT. She was also the subject leader in taxation during her 4 years with the Singapore Polytechnic.

Ms Tan was a marker for the taxation papers in the ACCA and CAT as well as an assessor for one of the taxation papers in the ATT. She has also authored several publications including the ”Singapore Tax Workbook“ (1st and 2nd editions) and the ”Hands On Guide - Tax Compliance“ published by CCH Asia Pte Ltd.

Lecturing Experience

Ms Tan has been lecturing Singapore taxation at all levels for more than 10 years, beginning with her joining the Academy in 1990. With her vast experience, Ms Tan will bring much to the enjoyment of learning for her students.

Tan Peng Kwee, Solicitor, Advocate    LLB (HONS)

Educational Qualification

Mr Tan graduated from the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore in 1989. He is a member of the Singapore Academy of Law and a Family Court mediator with Eagles Mediation. He is also an advisor to the Association of Legal Executives in Singapore.

Professional Experience

Mr Tan is currently a practising lawyer with the law firm of Peng Kwee & Company, in Singapore. He has been an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore for more than 10 years and in practice for more than 10 years. He has recently also became a Commissioner for Oaths. He has diverse exposure in various aspects of legal work, both civil and criminal. He is also the managing consultant of Bird's Consultancy and a director with Manth Consultancy Pte Ltd. He had also served as a regular officer at the Singapore Police Force.

Lecturing Experience

Mr Tan has taught as a full time lecturer in the Diploma in Legal Studies at Temasek Polytechnic for two years and a part-time lecturer on several of the part-time Diplomas and Specialist Diplomas. He conducted lectures in Commercial Law with the Singapore Human Resource Institute as well as criminal law in the Senior Officer's Basic Course at the Police Academy. He has also conducted seminars with Multi-national Corporations as well as continuing professional education seminars with the Singapore Accountancy Academy and the Singapore Human Resource Institute. Amongst other institutions, he has lectured in the Singapore Hotel Association Training and Education Centre (SHATEC) and the Commercial Affairs Department. Mr Tan has also participated at various forums, both as a speaker and a panellist.

Mr Tan is experienced in conducting training programmes to a wide range of audiences, from students with no work experience to professionals from the industries. He has also conducted seminars in English, Mandarin and Hokkien. His wide experience ensures that participants are given a good understanding of the fundamentals of law without sacrificing the practical aspects of law in the light of the environment the law operates in. He also leverages on technology to facilitate his lectures where such is applicable. Participants have always found his approach to various topics both refreshing and enlightening, sometimes even entertaining.

Mr Tan is the author of the Paper F4 (SGP) Corporate and Business Law Study Manual and Revision Kit, published by SAA.

Wilson Aw    MBA, M.BUS (Acc), BBA, CMA, ASA

Educational Qualification

Mr Aw holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Master in Business Administration and Master in Business (Accounting). He is an Associate Member of CPA Australia and Member of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants.

Professional Experience

Mr Aw had over twenty years experience as Chief Financial Officer with several multi-national companies. His responsibilities include financial control, shipping, tax planning and general management.

Lecturing Experience

Mr Aw teaches financial accounting, management accounting, finance and other accounting related subjects at both the Bachelor and Masters programs offered by Curtin University, Wollongong University, University of Wales, University of Western Sydney, Lester University and University of Ottawa. He has also taught the ACCA, AAT, CAT, ABE and UOL programs for several years.

Yeo Ai Leng    MBA, M.BUS (Acc), BBA, CMA, ASA

Educational Qualification

Ai Ling holds a Bachelor Degree from University of Tasmania, Australia and has a Graduate Diploma in E-Commerce Marketing which she achieved a Certificate of Commendation. She has also completed a TESOL course. Currently, Ai Ling is pursuing her MBA (for Financial Managers and Finance Professionals) with Manchester Business School, UK. 

Professional Experience

Prior to lecturing full-time, Ai Ling was working for a multinational corporation where she was involved in international projects, business analysis and market research. She was also required to design training materials and conduct in-house training to subsidiaries both locally as well as overseas.

Lecturing Experience

Ai Ling has been lecturing Finance and Accounting subjects at Diploma and undergraduate levels for the past seven years. Her students come from a varied background, including local working adults as well as international students from China, Korea, Vietnam, Myanmar, Mongolia, to name a few. In addition to lecturing, Ai Ling teaches English as a Second Language to foreigners.

Yeo Hong Ann    FCPA Singapore

Educational Qualification

Mr. Yeo graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy from the National University of Singapore and also passed the American Uniform CPA Examination at one sitting. He is a Fellow Certified Public Accountant of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore.

Professional Experience

Upon graduation, Mr. Yeo joined a Big 4 International Accounting Firm as an Audit Assistant and was accelerated to the position of Audit Manager during his seven years of service with the firm. He was selected to the firm's US Exchange-Visitor Programme and seconded to their US office for 18 months. His stint in the US was fruitful as he had the opportunity to perform audits in large American MNCs and passed the American Uniform CPA Examination at one sitting. During his service with the firm, he had been assigned to various medium and large-size audits of local and MNCs in manufacturing, trading, property, hotel, insurance, construction and investment holdings.

He went on to join the Singapore subsidiary of one of the world's largest business services companies as their Financial Controller. Later he was promoted to the post of General Manger, managing one of their business divisions in Singapore in addition to his financial management responsibilities. He was again promoted to the post of Area Finance Director responsible for the proper financial and administration practices of their businesses in Singapore and various parts of Asia.

Lecturing Experience

Mr. Yeo has many years of experience in conducting in-house audit and finance training programmes. He has lectured and tutored ACCA Audit and Assurance subjects as well as conducted seminars for Continuing Professional Education Programmes at the Singapore Accountancy Academy.
