I have always been asked the question, "Why study law?
Isn't it a difficult degree course to pursue and isn't it meant for people who are interested in becoming a practicing lawyer, who commonly appear to defend criminals and divorcing spouses?"
This is far from the truth. Many law graduates from the University of London International Programme (which was once known as the External system) are now successful in careers in Banking, Finance, shipping, insurance, arbitration, mediation and many other commercial and corporate fields.
In fact, even the subjects that are offered in the Bachelor of Laws degree and the Diploma in the Common law programmes have developed to accommodate and serve commercial and corporate needs. It is now common to find students selecting subject options such as company law, commercial law, Private and Public International Law, Intellectual property and European Union Law (to name just a few) which are commercial and corporate in nature.
The two subjects studied at the degree level which are strictly criminal litigation based are Evidence and Criminal Law.
Thus, the degree has now become a commercially viable degree and does not only serve the limited scope of leading graduates to legal practice and litigation in court.
At the least it is also a degree that develops and trains your transferrable skills, like mental dexterity, problem solving ability and the skill in advocacy and public speaking.
At the practical and pragmatic level, the degree qualification is accessible, affordable and reputable; the three most important factors that should attract graduate students and 'A' Level and Polytechnic Diploma graduates to the programme and to SAA-Global Education who will be your partners for success in the programme.
